Star Valley Ranch considering Mountain States annexation

With an extensive review coming before the community’s planning commission, the Town of Star Valley Ranch is moving forward with the next step for the 76-acre Mountain States Annexation.

The proposal for the 65 single-residence lots and 52 town homes is scheduled to come before town council on April 30 in a 5 p.m. meeting. A three-reading process will follow in the May, June and July town council meetings.

Mayor Ru Rok reported the proposal has included extensive research and review in recent months with the Star Valley Ranch Planning Commission.

The proposal includes a review by the town departments and the planning commission has recommended approval.

The mayor advised the upcoming April 30 public hearing as the next step in the process for annexation.

Summer projects

With the changing season, Star Valley Ranch will turn back to road work.

Town Administrator Trevor Aitken oversees the daily operations including road improvements following the winter months.

“We’ve got them all beginning rehab work and we’ve got all our equipment services ready to go, so we can start chip sealing” pending weather he said. “First, we’ll do Vista Drive.”

Additional work is planned for Butte, Custer and Perkins streets.

In April, the Town of Star Valley Ranch will start the first reading of the 2026-2027 budget.

Regarding the budget, both the mayor and administrator noted less capital projects will be budgeted in the new year because of recent expenses.

Recent expenditures have been direct to water storage facilities in Green Canyon,   replacing residential meters and large flow meters as well as equipment purchases for chip sealing the town roads.

Anticipated work will include pumps for the Green Canyon booster station and chip seal work on the community’s roads.

The Star Valley Ranch community garden program remains popular under the direction of the natural resources board.

The town will coordinate work on the trail system with Friends of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
