A former Afton resident who went missing in northern Utah has been found following search efforts in Utah, Idaho and Star Valley.

Family members say Doug Walker, 61, went missing on Tuesday, July 28. He was last seen on Utah State University video footage driving up Logan Canyon around 9:16 a.m. Before that he filled up his truck at Smiths on 700 North in Logan. It was believed that Walker may have been heading to the Star Valley area.

Family members believed Walker was experiencing a mental health crisis and were concerned for his safety. They asked for help from friends and community members who were able to drive up a canyon or somewhere in nature, specifically in northern Utah or the Star Valley area, including Dry Creek, Cottonwood and the Grey’s River loop starting at the South End.

Lincoln County Sheriff Shane Johnson told SVI Media that his department had also been contacted by Logan police asking to assist in the search.

At 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29 the family reported that Walker had been found in Logan, stating that he had been in Logan Canyon and was driving back into Logan when his vehicle was spotted by police. He was then taken to an area hospital for treatment.
