
State Track in Casper is often a weather-related gamble and the first day of the 2026 meet was full of wind, rain and snow which impacted the schedule of events to alter the Friday and Saturday schedules. However, Star Valley athletes are no strangers to such weather conditions and scored in several events on Thursday.
Leading the way was a second-place finish in the 3200 meter run for senior Colton Cranney, earning all-state for his efforts. His time was 9:37.22.
Abigail Carillo-Zarate placed third in the shot put with a distance of 40′ 1″ for the Lady Braves throwers. Sophomore Kelsie Dunne also placed sixth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:19.09 and Ruby Gaskell was seventh in the high jump with a height of 5′ 1″.
The Braves’ team of Beckham Brog, William Walker, Caleb Anderson and Brigham Hahn finished sixth in the sprint medley with a time of 3:47.18.
The Lady Braves quartet of Chloe Richmond, Morgan King, Evelyn Scharmann and Gracey Visser placed eighth in the sprint medley with a time of 4:26.09.
After a handful of events the Lady Braves were seventh as a team in the standings after Day 1 with 12 points. Laramie is out in front with 29. The Braves were third after the first day with 11 points. Sheridan led the way with 17.
