• Rumpf named to 10-person team. UW tabbed to finish seventh in the league
The Mountain West announced its Preseason All-Mountain West accolades and the predicted order of finish Wednesday morning at the league’s annual media day in Las Vegas.
Wyoming Cowgirl Jane Rumpf was named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team while Wyoming was tabbed to finish seventh in the preseason poll, as voted on by the league’s head coaches and select league media. UW received a total of 84 points in the poll.
Rumpf, who was a member of the 2025-26 Mountain West All-Freshman Team, averaged 10 points and 5.6 rebounds per game last season during conference play. Rumpf led the Mountain West during conference action in both blocked shots (1.60) and 3-pointers made (2.35) per game. Rumpf scored in double figures in seven MW games last season, including two 20-plus-point outings and had a pair of double-doubles.
UNLV was tabbed as the preseason league favorite and received 16 first-place votes and 193 total. Grand Canyon, who garnered five first-place votes, was picked second with 180 points. UC Davis (127), Hawai’i (125) and New Mexico (123, 1 first-place vote) round out the top five. Air Force was picked sixth just ahead of the Cowgirls with 107 points.
UW opens the season with an exhibition October 26 hosting Colorado Christian. The Cowgirls’ regular season opener is November 2 at 6:30 p.m., as Santa Clara comes to town to tip the 2026-27 season.
