Children and families are invited to The Magic of Believing fundraiser event in the Salt River Station at 970 South Washington in Afton on Saturday, December 13 for a memorable showing of the holiday animated classic film, “The Polar Express.” Doors open at 10 a.m. to see Santa, and the film begins at noon.
Each ticketed guest will receive a BELIEVE bell and a personalized golden ticket with their name on one side and BELIEVE printed on the other side. Guests will enjoy a homemade sugar cookie in the shape of a ticket that has BELIEVE written on it. “Santa has promised to be there from 10 to noon with the movie showing at noon,” said Amber Schalk, who represents organizers, in an interview with SVI Media. “PJ attire” is encouraged. “We’ll serve hot cocoa for the movie as well, and we are very excited!”
Offered by Team Tetons, the event is a fundraiser with all proceeds going toward the Susan G. Komen Foundation Three-Day Walk in 2027, which is a “60-mile walk over the course of 3 days,” Shalk explained. “Each team member is required to raise at least $2300 to even be able to participate in the walk.” Funds from the walk go to breast cancer research, treatment and community support.
“Our goal is a future without breast cancer,” said Schalk. “We don’t want anybody to have a mother, daughter, father, brother or sister suffer through the disease, so we are trying to make it a memorable event for those who want to be able to be part of that mission with us.”
Funds raised at the Three-Day Walk go to treatment research, education for patients and lawmakers, support to a patient who needs financial assistance with medical and daily living expenses, among other efforts.
Tickets are $20 per person and $10 for children under 12 months in age. Families with more than three attendees pay just $15 per additional person up to six people, immediate family only. Families with more than six members may reach out to Team Tetons to negotiate pricing.
Folks are asked to reserve a spot or sponsor a child by scanning the QR code or visiting https://forms.gle/
“I’m hoping that it will be memorable and just a wonderful thing for the community,” said Schalk, who serves Star Valley Health in Afton as a Labor and Delivery Nurse.
