• Students learn about theatrical elements while attending the festival.

Theater students from Star Valley High School competed in the Wyoming State Thespian Festival November 29 through December 2 in Casper.  Nine entries from SVHS festival received All-State Honors in the festival and 14 entries received Honorable Mention awards.

“Our students took their best work to state drama and gave amazing performances,” said Tami Nielsen, SVHS Theater Coach, in an interview with SVI Media via email. “They represented our school extremely well, and I’m very proud of the work they put in and their results.”

Every student that attended competed in at least one category, with some students competing in up to four or five categories. Additionally, the festival offered students a variety of classes to attend to learn about technical theater, performance, vocalization, acting, and auditioning.

“This was a group of students that I loved working with and were a delight to all they met,” added Nielsen. “Everywhere I went, people told me how much they loved working with students from Star Valley. Overall, our kids did amazing!”
