• Alpine events continue in July.

Pleased with the turnout at the 2023 Alpine Mountain Days event, the community is already advancing plans for the remainder of the summer.

“We had a wonderful turnout,” Emily Castillo, Alpine Town Councilman said Sunday afternoon just before the close of the three-day event. “We had 88 vendors, many local.”

Those vendors welcomed people from throughout the U.S. in addition to people from Europe, stopping by on their summer travels.

Castillo stopped by on their way to the national parks when they saw the activities in Alpine.

“This is one of the biggest events we host each year,” Castillo said in an interview with SVI Media’s radio stations, (The Spur and Swift, 107.5/106.3 and 98.7 FM).

With summer’s main event accomplished the town is looking at the activities of an expanded recreation department.

Castillo commended board members Shay Scaffide and others for their work in “understanding the needs of the community.”

She said community members have already  acquired funding for pickle ball courts and events with musical entertainment in the coming months.

In the near future they are planning for events centered around the Independence Day holiday.

Castillo commended the town employees for their work on these annual events. “They work many hours to make it run seamlessly,” she advised.

Future plans by the town and the recreation board will focus on the needs of individuals and families moving into the Alpine area.”

We want to give them the recreational space and trails they want in the town.”Councilman Castillo concluded. “There are a lot of good improvements coming down the pipe.”

Upcoming events for the Town of Alpine include the Fourth of July Parade at 6 p.m., with Fireworks at dusk and the Concert in the Parks Series opening July 6 and continuing through July 27.
