Beloved Community holds event devoted to service and kindness

• Members will share accounts of recent service

Provided by Dru Hanich, Star Valley Beloved Community

This Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to Noon in the Thayne Community Center, Star Valley’s Beloved Community will hold a follow-up event. It will recognize acts of service and kindness that have been done over the last three months since the Martin Luther King, Jr. event in January.

Dr. King emphasized the importance of service throughout his life. He said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Many small acts of service can create an ocean of abundance. In this spirit, over the last three months, members of the community have been recording acts of service and kindness that they have done or witnessed or received. Some of these will be shared through story telling.

People are encouraged to attend and share stories of their own. It is through being of service to others that a community is strengthened. April is Global Volunteer Month. Also, Monday, April 22 is Earth Day.

The vision of Star Valley’s Beloved Community is to continue to strengthen the bonds of fellowship and service in Star Valley through periodic gatherings and partnerships with other service organizations. We encourage all to arise to be of service to their families, friends, neighbors and even strangers. Let’s continue to make Star Valley a beloved community!
