Cowboys Wrap Up Non-Conference Home Action Hosting LA Tech on Saturday

The Cowboys will wrap up the non-conference home schedule on Saturday evening hosting Louisiana Tech in the Arena-Auditorium in a 7 p.m. start. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2011.

The contest will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and Stadium with Justin Adams on the call and Brian Burton as the analyst with Bridget Howard on the sidelines.

Fans can listen and watch the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Keith Kelley will have the call with Kevin McKinney on color.

About The Teams

The Cowboys head into Saturday’s evening’s game with a 4-5 overall record after defeating Texas A&M Commerce 91-76 on Tuesday. The Pokes are averaging 74.3 points per game and are allowing 70.6 per contest. The Pokes are shooting 45 percent from the along with opponents. Wyoming is hitting 9.6 threes per game to rank second in the MW and No. 33 in the nation. The Cowboy bench is adding 30.8 points per night to rank No. 36 in college basketball. The Pokes have had seven players on the roster miss time with an injury or sickness this season.

Louisiana Tech has begun the Talvin Hester era in fine form. The Bulldogs are 6-2 in the first-year head coach’s first season. The Bulldogs have won their last five games, and their only two losses on the season were by single digits at Texas Tech and at Louisiana, which are a combined 12-3 on the season.  The Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the Conference USA preseason poll.

The Cowboys are led in scoring by Hunter Maldonado at 13.6 points per game. He also adds 4.3 rebounds per game and 3.4 assists per night. He ranks seventh in scoring in Wyoming history passing Reggie Slater on Tuesday evening. Noah Reynolds adds 12.6 points per game and has scored career-highs in back -to-back games with 25 against Santa Clara and 30 on Tuesday against TAMC. He is shooting 54 percent from the field to lead the team this season. Hunter Thompson leads the team this season grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game and adds 6.7 points per night.

Louisiana Tech is led by Cobe Williams. He pours in 18.3 points per contest to go alongside his 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest. Keaston Willis leads the charge on the glass, as he grabs 5.4 rebounds per game, while also adding 14 points per contest. Isaiah Crawford is the other Bulldog averaging double figures at 13 points per game. Jordan Crawford paces Louisiana Tech with 4.4 assists per contest.

About The Series

Wyoming and LA Tech will meet for the fifth time on Saturday. The Pokes are 4-0 against the Bulldogs. The Cowboys defeated LA Tech 73-58 on Nov. 27, 2011 in the Arena-Auditorium in the teams last meeting.
