• Proceeds benefit Swenson family

The non-profit organization Free07 is hosting their 2nd annual Freedom Derby this Saturday, April 20. The Pinewood Derby event will begin at 11:00 a.m in the South Exhibit Building at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Afton.

The event will include various classes of cars, including a 5oz, open, and mod. Two age groups will compete with youth ages 0-15 and adult ages 16 and up. Prizes will be given for best in show, fastest car and most original.

The event will also include raffles and a silent auction. It is asked that participants not bring outside food as Jack’Stand will be on site selling concessions.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Swenson family who were recently devastated by a tragic house fire that claimed the life of 82-year-old Ruth Swenson.

Anyone interested in participating as a racer in the derby can register by contacting Brad Merritt with Free07 at (307) 248-1295. The public is encouraged to attend if you do not plan to compete in the pinewood derby.
