Gov. orders flags flown at half staff, congressional delegation responds to attack on Israel

Late Monday afternoon, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon ordered flags to be flown at half-staff following the deadly attack on Israel by the terrorist group Hamas. In a statement Gov. Gordon said the flags would be lowered “to honor those who lost their lives in the attacks committed against Israel.”

“Wyoming stands firmly by our ally Israel as she defends her people from the cowardly attacks of Hamas,” stated Gordon. “We vehemently condemn the horrendous actions of these terrorists.”

In addition, Wyoming’s Congressional Delegation also released statements condemning the attacks. U.S Representative Harriet Hageman said “Innocent citizens, women and children, are enduring unspeakable suffering at the hands of Iran-backed terrorists. We stand by Israel in these horrifying times, condemning the attacks by these terrorists.”

Rep. Hageman’s statement was also critical of President Biden, saying “The callous decision by Joe Biden to give $6 billion to Iran has quickly resulted in the worst terrorist attacks in Israel in over a generation.”

U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis defended Israel’s response to the attacks, saying “I am horrified to see Hamas terrorists attacking Israel, our greatest ally. Israel has every right to defend itself against these awful attacks.”

U.S. Senator John Barrasso was also critical of President Biden, saying that “Joe Biden’s payment of $6 billion to Iran last month paved the way for deadly terrorist attacks against Israel today. The callous decision by Joe Biden to give $6 billion to Iran has quickly resulted in the worst terrorist attacks in Israel in over a generation.”

“America stands with Israel, one of our strongest allies,” stated Barrasso. “Israel is under heavy attack right now by Hamas and taking action to defend itself and its people. Our nation is committed to ensuring Israel has the means necessary to continue to fight against all terrorist threats.”

The attacks began on Saturday morning on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. Since Hamas’s initial attack over the weekend, the death toll on both sides has risen to over 1500 as of Monday night, including eleven Americans.
