◆ Youth and adults are welcome free of charge.
Star Valley’s new Guiding Star Strategy Group Youth Entrepreneur Program begins the inaugural session of their Foundation Course at 6:30 p.m. in the Afton Town Hall on Thursday, February 10. Youth and adults are welcome to attend free of charge.
With a focus on helping youth and adults gain and increase confidence in their abilities to engage and interact with people and to present themselves in front of crowds, the course is designed to inspire self-reliance and community focus in economic and business growth.
According to Michael Horn, group creator, the world would have us believe that maintaining a spirit of family and community in our lives is no longer important. Children are being taught that they need to establish global connections in lieu of community and family connections. Horn believes that our children need the exact opposite of what global culture is presenting to our children.
“This is the heart of America,” said Horn in reference to small, industrious communities like Star Valley. “This is the life blood of America. If we don’t do things in our community to secure that vision, it will go away. We are seeing century-old traditions of personal self-reliance disappear off the face of the planet…Everyone has come to this dependency of needing [big business] to sustain us.”
Classes will continue each Thursday evening through May, after which the Structure and Launch Courses are expected to begin, continuing in the program. Horn has invited panels of local professionals in various industries to act as mentors and to visit with students in a question and answer format during classes.
All are welcome. Enrollment is free. Students are welcome to participate in person at the classroom site or attend by Zoom. Each class period will be recorded and made available to participants, so those who begin the course later or who are unable to attend, can access the course at their convenience.
