New Principal, Boys Bball Coach announced for SVHS

A large number of adjustments in staffing and personnel were announced Wednesday night during the Lincoln County School District No. 2 monthly board meeting.  Among the changes are a new principal for Star Valley High School and a new head coach for the Star Valley boys basketball program.

Mr. Farren Haderlie will be the new principal at SVHS when the 2022-23 school year begins. Haderlie is currently the assistant principal at Star Valley Middle school. He replaces Principal Jason Horsley, who has been serving dual roles as principal and Director of Secondary Education. Following the resignation of Dr. Amanda McAdams, Director of Elementary Education, the district decided to offer Horsley a position solely as one of two Directors of Teaching and Learning, opening the principal position at the high school. It was also announced during the Wednesday board meeting that Mr. Kory Hokanson, currently an Assistant Principal at Star Valley High School, has accepted a position in the district office as the other Director of Teaching and Learning alongside Mr. Horsley.

In addition Dr. Lori Schieffer, the current principal of Thayne Elementary, has accepted a role as Talent Developer in the district office, meaning a new principal will be needed in Thayne.

Mitch Schwab was announced as the new Head Coach for the Star Valley boys basketball program. Schwab replaces head coach Paul Kabonic, who resigned shortly after the 2021-22 season. This season Schwab had served as an assistant coach on Kabonic’s staff.

A recording of the complete Lincoln County School District No. 2 School Board meeting can be found on the district’s Facebook page. The reading of all other personnel changes can be found at roughly the 2:21:00 mark.

Look for more details on these staffing changes in the upcoming April 13 edition of the Star Valley Independent.
