Snow Water Equivalents up

Snowpack and Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) reports continued to improve in many areas around the state through mid-April.

Some of Wyoming’s basins showed 5 to 15 percent increases within the past week.

The Powder and Lower North Platte Watersheds continued to have the highest SWEs in the state with 118% and 119%, respectively; while the Cheyenne Basin had the state low at 67% of median.

Exceptions included Snake River Basin, down at 84 percent and the Upper Bear River Basin at 76 percent. Both are on the west side of Wyoming.

Statewide, the SWE was at 95% of median.

Increased mountain snowmelt is expected by the weekend into early next week accross Wyoming as above average temperatures are expected.
