With honors recommendation from their advisors, 40 members of the Star Valley High School Band and Singcopation participated in the Wyoming Music Educators Association Southwest Music District Honor Band and Choir Clinic on November 21 and 22 at Cokeville High School.

Both music groups rehearsed Monday and Tuesday with conductors from BYU-I and Rigby High School in Idaho, working with dozens of other music students from high schools throughout Southwest Wyoming.

“[Guest conductors] did a great job selecting music for the students to sing,” shared Kari Allred, choir director at SVHS in an interview with SVI News. “It was music that they really enjoyed singing, but also challenged them at the same time.”

“They prepared and performed an incredible concert Tuesday evening in the Cokeville High School Auditorium,” said Kurt Sand, who serves as Band Director at SVHS.

“It’s a long tiring two days, but the concert really showed the hard work that they had put in,” added Allred. “It was a great concert highlighting some of the best singers and musicians from the Southwest District. I am super proud of our kids and the talent and the hard work they put into the program.”
