SVHS Weekend Sports Recap

The Star Valley Braves scored 188.5 team points on their way to a second-place finish as part of the Madison Invite in Rexburg, Idaho over the weekend.

For the second straight weekend Zac Patterson (182) and Harrison Hoopes (195) grabbed weight class championships after winning are the Richardson Memorial.

Jacob Guild (145) and Ryan Dunne (160) also advanced to the finals. The wrestling team will be back in action this week as they make the trip to the Lander Invite.

After a disappointing loss to visiting Marsh Valley on Thursday, the Braves Basketball team bounced back with one of their best efforts of the season as they pulled away from Sugar-Salem in a 69-54 on Saturday afternoon.

Kort Hilton drained six three-point baskets on his way to 20 points to lead the way. Dylan Johnson and Tate Frome also finished in double-figures with 10 points each.

The Lady Braves came back from two weeks off with a road trip to Preston as they tried to collect a season sweep. The Indians had other plans as they shut down Star Valley, 45-15.

The basketball teams open 4A Southwest play this Friday as they host their rivals from Jackson.

The Lady Braves have one more non-conference game as they are scheduled to travel to Soda Springs to face the Cardinals on Saturday evening.

Finally, the Indoor Track & Field team competed at the Idaho State Snake River Open on the campus of the Bengals. Kammi Merritt won the Long Jump for the team’s top finish.
