Swift Creek Canyon has been opened after the Town of Afton cleared a mudslide that had blocked the trail to the intermittent spring and exposed the town’s water line.

Afton Mayor Jeff Jensen said crews were able to clear enough of the slide to allow the creek to flow through and open the trail. He noted that the trail remains muddy and will likely take a few days to dry out.

The trail was closed Friday night so crews could bring heavy equipment up the road. It was reopened at roughly 4:30 p.m. The mud slide originally occurred the week of June 12.
