• Girls Basketball

The Lady Braves picked up a pair of wins over the weekend as they defeated the winless Jackson Lady Broncs 55-6 on Friday night in Afton and then fended off the Evanston Red Devils 41-28 on the road on Saturday.

Cameron Erickson and Kenlee Engelhardt continue to lead the team as Engelhardt scored 16 points and collected eight steals against the Lady Broncs. Erickson reached couple figures in both games including 13 against the Devils. Maddie Hale also scored 13 in the Evanston game.

Up next for the girls basketball team will be the final home game of the regular season as they host the Green River Wolves with the top seed of the 4A Southwest up for grabs.

Tip-off for the varsity is scheduled for Friday, February 24, at 5:30 pm.

• Boys Basketball

The Braves also picked up a pair of wins over the weekend as they knocked off the Jackson Broncs 62-52 in Afton on Friday and then routed the Devils 70-41 in Uinta County on Saturday.

Jacob Hodges scored 16 first-half points against the Broncs who were without Andrew Hanna

On Saturday, Taft McClure put up a career-high 27 points while Hodges scored 21 and pulled down 14 rebounds.

The Wolves are in town Saturday for a 7 pm start. With a win, the Braves would be in the conversation for the 4A Southwest top seed.

• Indoor Track

The SVHS Indoor Track & Field team competed at the Simplot Games after the event has been canceled the past two years due to COVID-19 concerns.

Highlights for Star Valley included Ava Morgan placing ninth in the 60-Meter Hurdles on Thursday.

On Friday, Valerie Jirak continued an impressive indoor campaign as she qualified for the finals in both the Long Jump and the High Jump
