The event features three night of concerts with tribute bands for Frankie Valli (December ’63), Garth Brooks (Garth Live!) and Elton John (Candle in the Wind).
Tickets for the event can be purchased for the entire series for for individual shows. For tickets visit StarValleyConcerts.com.
(0:00) And another guest interview joining me live in studio is Tim Stewart with the Starvatte Ranch (0:05) RV Resort and a big concert series on the way at the RV Resort Barn in a couple of weeks. Tim, (0:12) good morning. How are you doing today? Thank you.
Appreciate you having me here. (0:15) Absolutely. Now, of course, the Stewart name is synonymous with Starvatte Ranch and (0:20) since the 70s, right? Yeah.
Yeah. My dad brought us on a family vacation and we came through here (0:26) in 1962. And even at eight years old, I could tell my father was absolutely thought he had found (0:34) Nirvana here.
And so he went back and I’ll talk with his three brothers that he was in business (0:41) with in Las Vegas. They had three construction companies there. And what happened then was (0:47) basically to shut him up.
They finally came up in the spring of 63 and they were smitten and (0:54) they ended up over in the Crow Cook area south of Fairview. They ended up buying a little 900 acre (1:00) ranch and everybody that ever came to visit fell in love with it. And it gave my dad the idea if (1:06) they ever had the chance that they would build a recreational development.
My dad and uncles were (1:11) very simple cowboy guys that made good in construction and they didn’t have anything (1:16) in common with the jet set up in Jackson. So they wanted to build a resort that would (1:20) that middle income families would be able to afford. And so in 1970, the timing was just (1:27) perfect.
They had just finished redoing a bunch of I-15. And so what happened then, (1:34) five of the original homestead ranches that stretched six miles along the (1:39) Bridger National Forest there, all became available for different reasons. And so they purchased (1:44) approximately almost 5,000 acres when they purchased that.
And it made it valuable for (1:50) development because it had most of the original water rights to all three canyons. And so in 1970, (1:57) my father brought me up here and my brothers. And my father gets credit for most of the ideas, (2:02) but my brothers and I got credit for implementing those ideas.
Because if you were my dad, (2:08) you didn’t, he didn’t believe in child labor laws. If you’re his kid, it was 15 hour days. (2:15) But so in 1970, we started Star Valley Ranch.
Then in 1985, it was pretty well sold out. And so we (2:24) turned over to the association to then manage it. And then the RV resort, my dad said, I want to (2:31) build one more golf course before I die.
And so we started the RV park in 1985. And so we’re really (2:39) excited today to talk about when the Pioneers came, Pioneer Day, you know, is coming up here (2:45) the weekend. One of the ways they celebrated when they got here was through music.
And we, one of (2:51) the things we thought we could do to give back to the community, this is the third, this is the (2:56) third time we’ve done the music festival. And so, and what this, we’re really excited about (3:05) the agenda this year. On Friday night, the 24th, we’re bringing in their, it’s a tribute to Frankie (3:15) Valley and the Four Seasons.
And they’re on tour. And so we had to fly them all the way in from (3:21) Miami. And I personally saw them and had to pay a lot more money than you guys will be able to (3:27) pay to see them.
But they’re absolutely fantastic. What makes them unique is they have three lead (3:33) singers. And so, so Friday night will be that.
And of course, for those of you that are old enough, (3:41) you know, Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons had tons and tons of hits. Of course, one of (3:46) their most famous that more younger people might be aware of, and that’s what they call their group (3:51) name is December 63. And, and so that’ll be Friday night.
And then Saturday night, we had (4:01) Drew Balow a few years ago, and he does Garth Live. Now, he, we really went big time because (4:10) during COVID, when they couldn’t perform, he did two or three free concerts online. And Garth Brooks (4:17) and Trish Yearwood saw him and was so impressed with him that he allowed him to use in marketing, (4:25) and he’s able to call it Garth Live, and basically anointed him as the very best (4:32) tribute artist for him.
And not only does he look like him and sound just like him, (4:37) but he has the energy. He’s all over the stage. He’s crazy, the amount of energy the man has.
(4:43) But he puts on an unbelievable concert. And so if any of you that saw him when he was here about (4:52) three years ago, you’re in for a really special treat. And so that’s Saturday night.
And that’ll (4:59) make all the country western fans happy. And then, and then on Sunday night, I’ve been trying (5:05) to get him for three years. Yeah, he does a tribute to Elton John.
And, and that’s, of course, (5:14) the 20s. Garth is on the 25th, Saturday, and then Sunday, 26 will be a tribute to Elton John. (5:20) And he does Candle in the Wind, which was one of his famous songs.
And so the thing that’s (5:29) interesting about that is, is that he not only looks like him. In fact, if you will all pay (5:38) attention to the Star Valley Independent, there’ll be a half page color ad coming out in Wednesday’s (5:44) paper. And also the following week, that’ll also give you the information you need to be able to, (5:49) to see that there’ll be a little scan code.
But for those of you that need to know, (5:55) you can go on starvalleyconcerts.com and be able to get tickets. We have a few tickets for the VIP (6:07) tickets, which are, gets you in 20 minutes early. So you can select your, the best seats.
It is (6:14) general admission, but it’s going to be at our big social dance barn. And there’s really no bad, (6:22) I mean, it’s, it can only seat 450. And so there’s really no bad seat.
But for those that want to be (6:29) right up front and front few rows, then for $105, you can be able to go see all three concerts. (6:37) Now, normally, if you go to see any of these guys in Las Vegas, you’ll be paying 80 to $100 just (6:44) for one concert. So to be able to have the valley to have this quality of entertainment and be able (6:50) to see three top-notch performers for $100 to see all three concerts, that’s what you would pay for (6:57) just one concert.
And so we’re really excited about that. Now, for those of you that wanted (7:03) to just buy one individual ticket, you can buy an individual ticket to any one of the three events. (7:09) They’re $40 each.
Now, once the, the VIP tickets are limited, and once they’re sold out, you still (7:16) don’t miss out. It’s only $5 more, you can for $105, you can buy a three-day pass for all three (7:23) venues. And so we’re really excited to be able to bring that this quality of entertainment to (7:30) the valley.
And we hope that all of you out there will avail yourself of this tremendous opportunity. (7:36) So again, it’s going to be a Pioneer Day weekend at the Star Valley Ranch RV Resort (7:42) with these three nights of concert series starting on the 24th of July. That’s the (7:47) Friday with December 63, Garth Live on Saturday, the 25th, and Candle in the Wind on Sunday (7:53) of the 26th.
Starvalleyconcerts.com is the URL to go to for tickets and more details. (8:00) Tim Stewart in studio. Tim, this is fantastic.
I actually went and looked up these acts after you (8:04) and I had talked about it yesterday. And yeah, these are the real deal tribute bands. I mean, (8:10) sometimes I looked up some of the YouTube videos and you’re like, is that the real guy? Is that (8:14) really Elton John? I mean, it’s kind of uncanny how close they are.
So. (8:20) Yeah. I mean, everybody that has seen any of these quality of performers, (8:27) that’s why they can get the big bucks.
It was interesting. Garth live after he got (8:34) endorsed basically to marketing wise to be able to do that. He was able to almost double the money (8:42) that he would charge hotels to come.
But he loves it so much. They want to come up and be able to (8:50) go up and see Yellowstone and Teton Park. And normally we could never afford to bring them (8:56) in with the money that the hotels pay them.
But they love, they’ve fallen in love with the Valley (9:02) themselves. And so they’re willing to come and take almost half the money that they would normally (9:06) charge to be able to come in and perform for us. So we’re really excited that we can get them to (9:12) come up here because we could never afford to bring them in if we had to pay them what they (9:16) normally get.
Certainly. So again, it’s going to be tribute artists to Frankie Valley, Garth Brooks (9:22) and Elton John, December 63, Garth Live and Candle in the Wind at the Star Valley Ranch RV (9:26) Barn on July 24th, 25th and 26th. Visit starvalleyconcerts.com for tickets and details.
(9:35) Tim, thank you so much for your time. Anything we missed? Oh no, just check out the Star Valley (9:40) Independent paper tomorrow. Yep, it’ll all be in there as well.
That’s Tim Stewart this morning. (9:45) Star Valley Ranch RV Resort on the Weekday Wakeup.
