Closing out the regular season on the road and with the #2 seed from the West on the line, the Star Valley Braves scored 48 unanswered points after falling behind early in Jackson. The final score was 48-7.
In the 85th meeting between Star Valley and Jackson, the Broncs jumped out to a 7-0 lead as they took the opening possession down the field and punched in a short touchdown run on the legs of quarterback Owen Janssen.
It turned out to be the high point of the night for the Jackson crowd on Senior Night.
The Braves rode their running game early on with Kaleb Spalding compiling 132 yards on 18 carries and finding the end zone twice.
It was a very efficient day for quarterback Taft McClure who completed his first eleven passes to five different receivers on his way to another stellar outing. He finished the day going 19 of 23 for 273 yards and a pair of scores which went to Chase Stewart and Dimitri Douglarakis.
Stewart also rushed for a score as did Tristian Hilton and Brandon Beck.
Defensively the Braves shut down the Broncs attack after the initial drive and forced five turnovers.
Jayden Crook had a pair of interceptions on back-to-back possessions and Clay Merritt had an interception as well. Derek Astle blocked a 41-yard field goal attempt by Jackson and recovered the loose football. Finally, Beck forced a fumble from Janssen which was recovered by Brandon Cook. In addition to the turnovers, the defense allowed just 35 yards on the ground on 27 carries.
The win earned the Braves a home game in the 3A West Quarterfinals next Friday as they will host the Lander Tigers. It is the second straight season the two schools will meet in the Quarterfinals. Star Valley defeated the Tigers 50-20 in Fremont County last season.
The 3A Quarterfinals matchups are:

(3W) Jackson @ (2E) Buffalo
(3E) Lander @ (2W) Star Valley
