Wrestling

The Kemmerer Rangers placed an outstanding 17th out of 62 schools from Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada and Wyoming at the Rockwell Rumble wrestling meet in Heber City, Utah this past weekend. And they had only six wrestlers at the tournament.

Rangers senior Hayden Walker stayed unbeaten on the season as he won the 195 pound championship. The other five Rangers wrestlers, Dawson Schramm, Josh Thatcher, Carson Carlson, Colter Julian and Donny Proffit each earned team points.

Basketball

After losing their first 13 games of the season, the Rangers boys basketball team rolled over conference foe Shoshoni on the road Saturday afternoon. The Rangers scored the first five points of the game and never trailed as they rolled over the Wranglers 69-42. Junior Caden Bowen had his best offensive performance of the season as he led the Rangers with 25 points. Colter Brunski contributed 20 points. The win was a big comeback for the Rangers after getting blown out by 51 points at Wind River on Friday.

The Lady Rangers basketball team lost both of their class 2A southwest conference games over the weekend. They fell behind by 15 points at halftime at Wind River but stayed even in the second half as they lost 54-41. In their game against Shoshoni on Saturday, they outscored the Lady Blue 10 to 1 in the first quarter and led by 8 at halftime. Shoshoni then scored the first 12 points of the second half to take the lead. Kemmerer led by a point with less than a minute to play, but Shoshoni hit their only three-point basket of the game, and held on to win by 3. Rangers freshman Olivia Neilson led Kemmerer with 11 points in the game.

The Rangers basketball teams host Lyman on Tuesday.  The games will be carried live on The Spur.  (105.3 FM and 940 AM)
