Wyoming Community Foundation Awards COVID-19 Grants in Kemmerer

The following is a press release from the Wyoming Community Foundation

LARAMIE- Nonprofits have always played an important role in our community. From feeding
families, to providing care for our children, charitable organizations are critical. Right now,
many are seeing an increased demand in services but don’t have the resources needed to meet
that demand. The Wyoming Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund is
helping address the issue.

In just four weeks the fund, which was created by donations from individuals across the state,
has granted $123,321 to 30 organizations statewide, including to the Kemmerer Senior Center
and the South Lincoln Medical Center.

Kathleen Carollo, who serves as a committee member of the Wyoming Community
Foundation’s Kemmerer Foundation Fund Advisory Committee, says, the goal of this fund has
been to get the funds into Wyoming Communities enabling organizations to continue to
provide necessary services.

Carollo noted that applications are currently reviewed on a weekly basis and those
organizations working to support vulnerable populations in the community are given priority.
The committee is currently making grants up to $5,000, which we hope helps provide some
extra support during this time.”

Carollo also shared that although not every organization will qualify for the COVID-Fund grants,
the Wyoming Community Foundation also has a competitive grant application, those deadlines
are June 15th and December 15th of each year.

“Any charitable organization working to improve our community is encouraged to apply to the
competitive cycle,” says Carollo.

In 2019 the Wyoming Community Foundation granted nearly $9.5 million to nonprofits and, so
far this year the Kemmerer Foundation Advisory Committee of WYCF has granted $118,160 to
local organizations.
