Fall rodeos conclude in Grace

 

• Season resumes in spring.

 

The short high school fall rodeo season came to a close on Saturday, August 31 with a double header in Grace, Idaho. Local rodeo athletes will now take a break from the season until the schedule resumes in the spring of 2025.

Highlights from the first rodeo of the day include Brooklyn Brown of Afton taking 1st in Breakaway Roping, 5th in Barrel Racing and 9th in Goat Tying. Ross Hilton of Afton with his roping partner Kruz Smith of Montpelier won the team roping event, followed by Ryder and Case Kerr of Fairview who finished in 2nd. Ryder also finished in 2nd in Tie Down Roping, with Case Kerr in 6th. Other top ten finishers in the first rodeo include Bridget Scaffide of Alpine taking 7th in Pole Bending and Payzli Nield of Afton finishing 9th in the same event. Scaffide also finished 7th in Barrel Racing.

On the second rodeo of the day, Bridget Scaffide had her best finish of the season in Barrel Racing, finishing in 2nd place, along with a 9th place finish in Pole Bending. In Breakaway roping Jaydin Nate of Cokeville finished in 4th while Payzli Nield took 6th. Brooklyn Brown came in 5th in Goat Tying. In Team Roping, Ryder and Case Kerr had the fastest time of the second rodeo, this time followed by Hilton and Smith who took 2nd.

Heading into the break, Bridget Scaffide sits in 5th place overall in Barrel Racing with Brooklyn Brown in 7th. In Breakaway Roping, Brown is in 2nd place overall, and 8th place in Goat Tying. Scaffide is in 9th place in Pole Bending. Hilton and Smith currently lead the race in team roping with 38 points, followed by the Kerr twins in 2nd place with 27 points. Kutler Keetch of Cokeville is in 4th place in Tie Down Roping followed by Ryder Kerr in 5th, Case Kerr in 9th and Cinch Pope of Cokeville in 10th.

In the All Around races, Brooklyn Brown currently sits in 7th on the girls side. For the boys, Ryder Kerr is in 5th, one point ahead of Ross Hilton in 6th followed by Case Kerr in 7th.
